.. I JUST USE IT (like the game means for you to do) ..
Because there's obviously no trading or monetary mechanism built into this game, and the bizarre trade window, gold, and platinum kludges people use were only added by the programmers as random eye candy with no intention to ever have them be used

D. I don't want to be annoying people with trade spam
Because clearly you can't offer to sell, buy, or trade items without spamming. in fact, I hear that if you post only once to a trade channel without obsessively spamming it, somebody from ANet comes to your house and punches you in the face.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but you came off just a bit haughty and "my way or the highway" in that post...

Anyway, on topic

I don't farm anymore. The auto-nerfing takes the wind out of it for me. It's tough to find decent items without finding a good farming area, and once you find somewhere that decent items are dropping, it gets nerfed. I used to farm Southern Shiverpeaks, but I get garbage from Trolls, Avacari, Pinesouls and the Summit, and I haven't gotten a drop worth using or selling to anything but a merchant from a Shiverpeak chest in weeks.

Instead, I've started soloing on missions like The Wilds and Bloodstone Fen. Soloing those areas generally nets more loot that I can dump onto the merchant. I ID everything, including blues, and if I happen to get a halfway decent rune or upgrade, I'll salvage it and make one attempt per district in each of the three major cities to sell it every once in awhile, or possibly trade it.

I either salvage or sell to the merchant. But if I loot a high end weapon/item or mod I set them aside for guildies to see if they want it. Since im in a smaller but very tight knit guild I have a pretty good idea what to save and what to look out for. Speaking of wich I need to get the word out that im looking for a +30 pommel of fortitude in case someone loots one.

When I farm I'm looking for something specific that I need or a guildie needs. Everything else that I find that isn't the specific Item I need I identify then salvage without question. Crafting materials and upgrade components are always useful to have. I can flip bulk crafting goods at droks for a tidy little profit that usually goes into the guild coffers.

Another problem has poped up, a few threads have appreared where people have been banned for buying/selling to a bot. I probably could have sold that gold +29 health +5 armor with a fast cast bone staff to a player, but it was late so the merch got it. what there needs to be is a merch sellback, all the good stuff we sell can be bought from a merch.

I salvage everything (with a 100g salvage kit). Obviously, golds get expert salvages if they're worth it. I have no trouble selling tonnes of iron, wood and dust to other players in droks d1 and I make a fortune. Try it for a week or so.
